1991 Ventures Invests in The Fourth Law to Develop Scalable Autonomy for FPV Drones

1991 Ventures expands its defense tech portfolio, investing in The Fourth Law (TFL), developers of massively scalable AI systems for FPV drones. Prior to this, 1991 Ventures already backed a defence-procurement marketplace Allied Adaptive Industries (A2I), founded by former Royal Marines officer Jon Williams.

The Fourth Law was founded in Kyiv in 2023, by Yaroslav Azhnyuk, a serial entrepreneur, joined by a group of accomplished engineers, PhDs, operators, and veterans. With offices in the USA, EU, and Ukraine, the company is on a mission to increase the defensive capabilities of the Free World.

Following the R&D and rigorous testing with the Armed Forces of Ukraine, TFL successfully pioneered a unique, multi-level artificial intelligence system. It is engineered to precisely identify and categorize targets, whether stationary or moving, ensuring high-precision strikes. The Ukrainian Defense Forces already use TFL’s products in volumes, as it helps them solve the issues related to electronic warfare, radio horizon limitations, while enhancing their pilots’ precision capability.

The company's first products, the TFL-1 autonomy module, and the Lupynis-10-TFL-1 UAS (daytime or nighttime) — increase the success of FPV drone missions by a factor of 2-5 times, while increasing their cost by just 10-20%. This becomes possible by transferring the control over the drone in its last 500 meters of flight to an onboard computer running AI algorithms.

The company’s Founder and CEO, Yaroslav Azhnyuk, said: “Massively scalable drone autonomy is the single most important defense technology of this decade. There’s no one on the planet who understands this better than the Ukrainian Defense Forces. We’re doing the most important work of our lives, and the funding we’ve raised from the investors is an invaluable catalyst to the growing defensive capabilities of the Free World. We will need, however, much more resources to deliver on the full potential of this technology. We must  make sure that the adversaries of democracy and freedom won’t get there faster.”

1991 Ventures is proud to support builders tackling the world’s most pressing challenges. Led by Yaroslav Azhnyuk, The Fourth Law is emerging as a leader in massively scalable robotic autonomy, advancing the defensive capabilities of the Free World.
